In German
Ü
Meaning: the letter Ü (umlaut-U), a rounded vowel not found in English
Example sentences
DieTüristoffen.
The door is open.
ÜwieTür.
Ü as in Tür (door).
Grammar note
“Ü” has no real English equivalent either — say “ee” (as in “see”) while rounding your lips tightly, as if about to whistle. It's a distinct letter from “U”, changing word meanings.
Common mistake
Don't substitute a plain “u” for “ü” — the accepted substitute when you can't type it is “ue” (so “Tür” becomes “Tuer”), never a plain “u”.
