Grammar note
“Weil” sends the conjugated verb to the very end of its clause: “weil ich krank bin”, not “weil ich bin krank”. This verb-last word order is the single biggest adjustment English speakers have to make with German conjunctions.
Common mistake
Don't keep English word order after “weil” — “weil ich bin krank” is wrong; the verb “bin” must move to the end: “weil ich krank bin”.
